Illustrations — not photographs. These 3 frames are generated pictures of the same class of machine, built from this unit’s own specification rows. They show what the machine is and what it does. They are not photographs — of this unit, or of our yard. Ask and we will send photographs of the actual machine.

About this machine

Truck-mounted insulated aerial device on a four-wheel-drive diesel dually chassis — a picker truck that drives to the pole rather than being floated in.

The boom and the chassis are both insulated and the unit is configured for rubber-gloving work, with a category C dielectric rating and a 46 kV rated line voltage on the placard. Current dielectric certification must be confirmed with the yard before any work near energised conductors — the placard records no qualification-test date, and the rating on a decal is not the same thing as a current test certificate.

No outriggers are required for stability, so setup is quick on a road shoulder or a yard. The unit is not equipped for material handling: it lifts a person and their tools, not loads.

Pricing depends on the job, the duration and whether an operator is required, so this one is quoted rather than listed.

What the rate covers

One list, read straight down. Nothing here is crossed out — a line that costs extra is a line you can have, at the figure beside it.

  • Costs extraRefuelling ServiceCharged at check-in, and only if it applies.$75.00
  • Costs extraSecurity depositA hold placed on your card the day before pickup — an authorization, not a charge, so the money is never taken. Released once the machine is back and checked in; your bank may take a few days to show that.$1,500.00hold
  • Not suppliedAn operatorThe rate is the machine on its own. You put a trained, competent person in the seat — the yard does not send one, and there is no add-on that changes that.
  • Not suppliedInsuranceThe damage waiver is not insurance. It reduces what you owe for accidental damage; it does not cover theft, misuse or an untrained operator, and it does not stand in for the policy behind your certificate.

What you bring

Have these ready and the yard can release the machine on the day.

  • Certified operatorA trained, competent operator. You certify at checkout that whoever runs this machine is trained and competent on this machine class.
  • Certificate of insuranceA current certificate of insurance naming Cold Steel Rentals. We verify it before the machine is released — a COI is required on every rental.
  • Staff approvalYour dates are held the moment you reserve. The yard checks your insurance and licence before the machine leaves — that is the only step that is not instant.

Things to know

Who may run it

  • Every person who runs this machine has to be trained and competent on this class of machine.
  • You certify that yourself at checkout — the yard does not test you — and it is a clause of the agreement you sign.
  • Occupational health and safety law in Alberta puts that on you.

Insurance

  • A certificate of insurance naming Cold Steel Rentals as additional insured and loss payee, on every rental without exception.
  • 12%of the rental— damage waiver, on every order. A valid certificate on file is the one thing that takes it off.
  • The yard reads the certificate before the machine is released. Send it at checkout or have your broker email it.

Cancelling

  • 24hor more before pickup — cancelling costs nothing.
  • 48hor more if we are delivering — a truck is committed sooner.
  • Inside that window, part of the rental is kept.
